Our Brand Story

HEART OF PIZZA was founded in 2005 by Maria and Antonio Rossi, two Italian immigrants who brought their family's century-old pizza-making traditions to the heart of Chicago.

What began as a modest 500-square-foot pizzeria on a quiet downtown street was built on one simple promise: to create pizza that tastes like home – made with fresh, high-quality ingredients, crafted with care, and served with genuine hospitality.

Unlike corporate pizza chains, we never cut corners or compromise on what matters most. Every member of our team is trained in the Rossi family's time-honored techniques, ensuring that every pie (and every interaction) carries the same warmth and authenticity that defined our humble beginnings.

Today, while our footprint has grown, our family-owned spirit remains unchanged. We're still the same passionate team dedicated to nourishing not just bellies, but also the bonds that make our community strong.

Humble Beginnings

Maria and Antonio Rossi open the first HEART OF PIZZA location in downtown Chicago, serving only 3 types of traditional Neapolitan pizza.

2010
Community Roots

We launch our first community outreach program, donating 10% of monthly profits to local food banks and youth programs.

2015
Sustainable Growth

We transition to 100% locally-sourced ingredients and eco-friendly packaging, becoming Chicago's first carbon-neutral pizzeria.

2020
Adapting with Purpose

During the pandemic, we pivot to contactless delivery and launch a "Meal for a Hero" program, providing free meals to frontline workers.

2023
Legacy Continues

Maria and Antonio pass the baton to their daughter, Sofia, who continues the family tradition while expanding our commitment to sustainability.
